SCOTLAND NECK — The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is looking into the theft of computer equipment from a school the county was no longer using.
Halifax County Schools Public Information Officer Keith Hoggard said Brawley School in Scotland Neck was broken into sometime Thursday, apparently by thieves who entered through boarded-up windows.
The school system was not using Brawley as a school at the time, Hoggard said. The facility is closed, but items were being stored in the gym for a future sale of surplus property.
Thirteen computer monitors were taken from the scene, Hoggard said.
“These were old, big, bulky monitors,” Hoggard said.
No other property appears to have been taken during the break-in, Hoggard said.
The case has been turned over to the sheriff’s office for investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 252-583-8201 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
